Run Requests

The CLI integrates seamlessly with the extension, so you can access your request data from the terminal without any additional configuration.

To execute a request, run tc 'requestNameOrId'. You can identify the request by its ID, full name, or partial name.

As shown above, running a request from the CLI takes a single command. The output includes the status, the response with syntax highlighting and your VS Code theme, and the test results.

By comparison, running the same request from the UI requires several steps:

Open the sidebar.
Select the Collections tab.
Expand the User collection and the Account folder.
Open the Welcome request.
Send the request.

Output Log

By default, running a request displays the status, response, and test results. Use the --log argument to control which details are shown.

Available log options: 0 = All Data, 1 = Request Headers, 2 = Request Body, 6 = Response Headers, 7 = Response Body, 8 = Tests
Example: tc 'welcome' --log 1,2,7 displays the request headers, request body, and response body.

VS Code Themes in the Terminal
